Osteopathic Manual Therapy

with Toni Pigeon CNP, DOMP

Manual Osteopathy is a hands-on practice that uses manual therapy to stimulate the body's inherent healing mechanisms. A Manual Osteopath understands that the body is a dynamic unit of function, meaning she treats the patient from a holistic viewpoint. Because of this, you may be surprised to note that your practitioner focuses on a part of your body far removed from the problem area. The broader perspective of the holistic approach looks at what other structures, tissues, or obstructions are influencing the area where the pain or discomfort is felt. By removing obstructions to the flow of blood, lymph, and nerve conduction, Osteopathy aims to promote the body's self-healing.

What is
Cranial Sacral Therapy?

Cranial Sacral Therapy is a non-invasive treatment that uses gentle pressure on the head, neck, and back to relieve the stress and pain caused by musculoskeletal tightness. As a result, it can help a number of conditions. It's thought that through the gentle manipuation of the bones in the skull, spine, and pelvis, the flow of cerebrospinal fluid in the central nervous system can be normalized. It can be part of an already scheduled visit or the sole purpose of your appointment.
